Institutional Strengthening and Capacity Building
The Unit is coordinated by the Executive Director
assisted by one Program Coordinator.
This unit also embarks on institutional strengthening and capacity building initiatives for regional and local farmers' structures in order to strengthen their capacity to get them ready for advocacy and lobbying at their levels. Two pilot projects are being implemented targeting cooperatives and farmers associations. Both these experiences are being documented in order to develop manuals for best practice. The cooperative process has resulted in Omusati Regional Cooperative being the first communal cooperative to obtain full registration status and the manual of best practice has been launched in 2005.
NNFU intends to mobilize financial and material resources that will enable the organization to recruit a full-time programme coordinator in order to implement a fully-fledged programme as from 2008 and beyond.
